Bearwood Commercial Cleaning from Takeaway Kitchen to Counter
Bearwood Road is a working high street in Sandwell, not a shopping destination, and it carries a dense run of small commercial premises. Takeaways and restaurants, barbers and salons, convenience shops, phone and repair units, a pharmacy, offices and flats on the upper floors, and behind and around it a set of community and faith buildings and nurseries on the streets off Hagley Road West. Few of these premises have a facilities budget, and most trade long hours.
Where a food unit differs from a shop is that grease does not stay where it is produced. It settles on the outside of the extraction canopy, onto the wall and splashback behind the range, down into the floor gullies, and out onto the customer floor on the soles of whoever is carrying orders to the counter. By the time it is visible on the customer side it has already been in three other places for weeks, which is why cleaning what you can see never fixes it for long.

Kitchen grease, greasy customer floors and a shared bin entry
A takeaway or a small restaurant here is inspected by Sandwell on rather more than tidiness, and what gets written down is precisely what nobody has time for at midnight: the outside of the canopy over the range, the wall behind it, the gap between the fryer and the next unit, the floor gullies and the underside of the counter. Grease on a hard floor is also a slip risk before it is an appearance problem, and it is most dangerous on the customer side, where nobody is expecting it. Behind the trade there is a second and quieter problem. Most of these buildings have no yard, so trade waste sits in a shared entry or passage, and a passage that is not kept clear collects other people’s rubbish alongside yours until nobody can tell whose it is.
- The outside of the canopy and the wall behind the range, where grease collects long before it shows up on a customer floor
- Floor gullies, the gap beside the fryer and the underside of the counter, none of which get touched at closing time
- Grease walked onto the customer side, where it is a slip risk first
- Trade waste stored in a shared entry because the building has no yard, which attracts other people’s rubbish too
- Shopfronts and front glass greying with traffic film from a road that is busy from early morning to late evening
- Community and faith buildings and nurseries on the streets behind, used hard and cleaned by whoever volunteers
Kitchen surfaces degreased, floors done properly, the entry kept clear
Kitchen work is split between what happens at every visit and what happens periodically, and the scope says which is which so the periodic items never disappear into the daily routine. The outside of the canopy, the splashback and the wall behind the range are degreased properly and on a stated cycle. The canopy interior, its filters and the ductwork are specialist extraction work that we do not offer. The customer floor gets a degreasing routine, because a mop and warm water spread grease thinly instead of lifting it. Where your due diligence records require it we use your products and your stock and sign your sheet. The shared entry and bin area are named in the scope and swept on the same visit. Visits run Monday to Friday 8am to 6pm and Saturday 9am to 6pm, and an 8am start usually has a food unit finished well before it opens.
- Canopy exteriors, splashbacks and the wall behind the range degreased on a stated cycle you can point to
- Customer floors degreased on a routine, because a warm mop only redistributes grease
- Your own products, stock and due diligence records used where your paperwork requires it
- The shared entry and bin area swept and left clear, written into the scope so nobody assumes it

Timing on Bearwood Road
The road is busy from early and stays busy, so visits start at 8am, which is also easiest for loading, particularly near the bus terminus end. The streets behind are tight and often permit-restricted, so the community buildings and nurseries there are best visited early too. Bearwood is in Sandwell, not Birmingham, which changes who you deal with for trade waste and food hygiene inspection but changes nothing about the work. We are about fifteen minutes out, so a slot within the week is usually possible.
Kitchen scope and periodic deep cleans in a Bearwood Road quote
The first question is whether the kitchen is in scope or only the front of house, because those are genuinely different contracts. After that: whether periodic kitchen deep cleans sit inside the monthly figure or are called off separately, the floor area and floor type, the number of washrooms, and whether waste handling is included. Frequency is what keeps the number small: a short call six days a week, Monday to Saturday, costs less over a month than letting a kitchen reach the point where it needs a rescue. The specification also records, before the first visit, the tasks, the frequency, the access arrangements and what happens if a visit has to move.
Daily Monday to Saturday for food units, weekly for the front glass
Food premises generally need a visit Monday to Saturday, with the deeper kitchen degreasing on a periodic cycle of a few months, more often for a busy fryer operation. Shops and repair units manage on two or three visits a week. Salons and barbers do better on daily visits or several a week. Offices above the shops are usually fine weekly. Shopfront glass on this road wants a shorter interval than most people expect, weekly or fortnightly, because the traffic film returns within days. Community buildings and halls work best between hires.

Frequently asked questions
No. The canopy interior, the filters and the ductwork are specialist extraction cleaning, and we do not offer it. We clean the outside of the canopy, the splashback and the wall behind the range, the floor gullies and the customer floor, and we will tell you if what we see suggests it is time to book a specialist.
Almost certainly the water and the product, not the effort. Warm water and general detergent spread a thin film of grease across the floor instead of lifting it, so the floor is being kept in a greasy state. It needs a degreasing chemistry and a proper cycle, particularly along the counter and the door line where it gets walked. On a tiled floor the grout will also be holding it, and that needs dealing with separately before a routine will hold.
Yes, and for a food premises that is often the right way round. If your due diligence file specifies particular products and dilutions, we use those and sign your sheet, so your records are consistent and there is no gap where a contractor used something else. If you would rather we supplied everything, we will provide data sheets for it all so your file still holds together. What we will not do is work outside your documented system and leave you to reconcile it.
For the cleaning, no. For the paperwork around it, only in who you deal with: food hygiene inspection and trade waste arrangements here go through Sandwell, not Birmingham City Council. We cover B66 and B67, and the boundary makes no difference to us. It occasionally matters when somebody has been given advice that applies to the wrong authority, which is worth checking.
Yes, and it is worth naming it in the scope. A shared entry between a ground-floor business and the flats above is where the arguments happen, because the business produces the trade waste and the residents produce the complaints. We will sweep the entry, keep the bin area clear and present waste at the agreed time. What we cannot do is stop other people adding to it, though a passage that is visibly kept clear attracts a good deal less of it.
