Quinton Gutter Cleaning for Townhouses and Village Terraces
Many of the Victorian terraces around the old village core share a continuous gutter along the row, so a blockage on one length can hold water on its neighbours. We clear your length from the ground by pole vacuum and flush your downpipe, and if the house next door wants theirs done at the same time, one visit covers both, which neighbours usually find convenient.
Elsewhere in B32 the picture changes. The Ridgacre semis have longer runs than their frontage implies once you count the rear extension and the conservatory gutter, and the mature garden planting towards Woodgate Valley Country Park keeps them fed. The council-built townhouses bring the height problem: three storeys is not a job for a resident with a ladder, and their gutters are frequently the ones left longest.

Leaf from Woodgate Valley and grit from the road in one run
Quinton gutters take two kinds of load. The organic one is familiar: leaf fall from the estate planting and from the gardens backing onto Woodgate Valley, plus moss coming off the tile roofs and bedding down beneath it all as silt. The second comes from the road. Fine grit and road dust thrown up off the dual carriageway lands on roofs near the frontage and washes down into the run, where it binds with the moss into something heavier and denser than leaf litter. Add the shared terrace runs and the three-storey townhouse elevations, and you have a lot of guttering here that nobody has looked into for years.
- Continuous shared runs across the terraces near Christ Church, where half a clearance is no clearance
- Road grit and dust off the carriageway washing into the runs on the frontage properties
- Moss shedding from tile roofs and packing down as a silt bed below the leaves
- Rear extensions and conservatory gutters on the Ridgacre semis, adding run the frontage does not show
- Three-storey townhouse guttering, which residents cannot safely reach and so often goes years untouched
A ground-level vacuum and a flushed downpipe
A pole-mounted vacuum works from ground level up to three storeys, so nothing rests against fascia, render or a conservatory frame at any point. The bed of silt and compacted moss comes out along with the loose leaves, because a length stripped of leaves alone packs up again inside a wet month. Downpipes are then flushed so we know the whole length genuinely drains. A camera on the pole records the condition as we go: cracked sections, sagging, failed joints, gaps at the fascia. On a shared terrace run we work the full length and do not stop at the party wall.
- Vacuumed from ground level, with nothing leaned on fascia, render or a conservatory frame
- Silt and moss lifted out along with the leaves, so the run does not repack after the first heavy week
- Downpipes flushed, since a clear gutter feeding a blocked pipe still comes over the edge
- Shared terrace runs cleared end to end, not cut off at the boundary

Autumn on a shared run
October and November are the weeks that matter. On the terraces by Christ Church we quote two or three houses together, so neighbours can agree it between them and share one visit. On the Ridgacre estate and the townhouse blocks, a neighbour can join the same visit on request. We work from the front on most of these properties and only need access to the rear where there is an extension or a conservatory gutter, which on the terraces means a gated side entry.
Run length, height and whether next door books too
Length of run, height and how much is sitting in it. A Christ Church terrace on its own is a short run, and next door can be added to the same visit if they want it. A Ridgacre semi with a rear extension and a conservatory has considerably more guttering than the front of the house suggests. Three-storey townhouses cost more purely for the height. A run that has not been touched in five years, with seedlings rooted in the silt, takes longer than an annual clear, so the first visit is nearly always the dearest one.
Late autumn, once the B32 trees have finished
Annually for most of B32, booked for late autumn once the trees have finished, since a September clear on this estate usually means paying for two. Twice a year is worth it for the semis backing onto Woodgate Valley and anything under mature estate planting. Conservatory guttering on the Ridgacre semis fills faster than the house run and benefits from the shorter interval regardless of what the main gutters need.
Overall satisfied with service this company has provided leaving windows & guttering clean.
Excellent job, highly recommended.
Charles was great. He was very professional and did a great job.

Frequently asked questions
No, but it is convenient on the terraces by Christ Church. The run is continuous, so a blockage on their length can hold water on the shared stretch. Doing both houses in a single visit deals with the whole row between you at once.
No. Everything is done with a vacuum on a pole from ground level, up to three storeys, so nothing touches your fascia, your render or your conservatory frame. On the townhouses a pole is the only safe way to reach the gutter at all, and it is why those runs get cleared so rarely otherwise.
Water coming over the front edge in heavy rain, a downpipe that gurgles then backs up, green staining running down the fascia, or plants visible in the run from the pavement. On a shared terrace run there is one more sign worth watching: your neighbour getting the overflow while your own length looks clear.
Yes, on the properties facing the carriageway. Fine grit and dust off the road settles on the roof, then rain carries it down into the run where it mixes with moss into a dense silt. It is heavier than leaf litter and it does not wash through, which is why we vacuum the bed out rather than just fishing the leaves off the top.
We photograph it and show you what we found. We do not fit or repair guttering, so there is nothing in it for us to talk the problem up. On the older terraces a sagging length is often a bracket rather than the gutter itself, and it is worth knowing which before anybody quotes you for a full replacement.
