Stirchley Cleaning for Old Terraces, New Blocks and Cafes
Stirchley has changed enormously over the last decade, and the cleaning it needs has changed with it. The Pershore Road high street has filled up with independent businesses (bakeries, breweries, cafes and small shops) and there has been a lot of new residential development alongside the existing Victorian terraces.
It sits between Bournville and Selly Park, about seven minutes from our base, so it is one of the areas we can cover easily and often. We do a real mix here: new-build flats, older terraces, and a growing amount of small commercial work along the high street.
We are based in Selly Oak, about 7 minutes from Stirchley.
Two-up two-downs, new blocks and a canal at the back
Stirchley is a mix that keeps widening. The core is late-Victorian terraced housing on the streets running off the Pershore Road: small, tightly packed, mostly two up two down with rear yards, and a good share of it rented. Alongside that there is a substantial amount of recent development: apartment blocks and new-build houses on former industrial and retail land, which bring communal cleaning work, entrance glass and shared bin stores rather than traditional exterior maintenance. The high street itself is older commercial stock with large ground-floor glazing, and many of the independent businesses that have opened here run food operations, which means a different standard of kitchen and floor cleaning than a shop. Both the terraces and the high street back onto the Worcester and Birmingham Canal, so there is a damp, green-growth aspect to a lot of the rear elevations.
Canal damp, communal halls and food-premises kitchens
- Damp and green growth on rear elevations backing the canal
- Communal areas in new apartment blocks
- Food-premises standards for the independent high street businesses
- Small tight terraces with rear-yard access only
- Frequent turnover in rented terraced property
Cleaning services we offer in Stirchley
Each of these has its own page for Stirchley, with the local detail for that job.
Domestic Cleaning in Stirchley
Weekly or fortnightly cleaning in the two-up two-down terraces and the new flats, where a small floor plan keeps a regular visit quick.
Commercial Cleaning in Stirchley
Cafes, bakeries and small shops on the Pershore Road, cleaned from an 8am start. Where a bakery is already working, we agree the order of rooms so the kitchen keeps running.

Move-in and move-out cleans on the terraces off the Pershore Road and the new-build flats, with extra time on ovens, bathrooms and the damp-prone back rooms on the canal side.
Deep Cleaning in Stirchley
Full resets on terraces, and kitchen and hard-floor deep cleaning to food-premises standards for high street businesses.
Window Cleaning in Stirchley
Terrace windows on a regular cycle, plus shopfront glass along the Pershore Road, cleaned before opening.
Patio & Driveway Cleaning in Stirchley
Rear yards and paths, particularly the damp canal-side elevations where green growth takes hold.
Gutter Cleaning in Stirchley
Terraced runs backing onto the canal hold moss as well as leaf, so they are cleared and then flushed through to the downpipe.
Carpet Cleaning in Stirchley
Stair carpets in the rented terraces and fitted carpet in the new flats, cleaned by hot-water extraction at changeover.
Conservatory Cleaning in Stirchley
A few lean-tos on the canal side of the terraces, where damp air turns the roof green quickly, soft-washed with frames and seals.
Oven cleaning and other jobs people ask about in Stirchley
Ovens are cleaned as part of a deep clean or an end of tenancy clean, not as a separate call-out. We do not offer roof cleaning, graffiti removal or upholstery cleaning, so for those you will need a specialist.
What each kind of Stirchley building asks of a cleaner
Stirchley is a mix of long-standing residents and people who have moved in recently, and what they need depends on the building. For the new flats we do communal cleaning and move-in and move-out work. For the older terraces it is regular domestic cleaning, end-of-tenancy and exterior jobs. For the independent businesses on the Pershore Road we start at 8am, before most of them open, and we are comfortable with food-premises standards on kitchens, floors and hard surfaces. Being seven minutes away makes the small and frequent jobs practical, and that is most of what a small high-street business actually needs.
That takes in Stirchley high street on the Pershore Road, the Worcester and Birmingham Canal and Stirchley Park, and the streets between them.
