Kings Norton Cleaning, from The Green to the B38 Estates

Kings Norton is really two areas in one. Around The Green there is a conservation area protected since 1969, with listed and historic frontages, soft old brick and exposed timber framing that no pressure washer should ever go near. Behind it, filling B38, are the large municipal estates built between the 1950s and the 1970s. Fifteen minutes from our Selly Oak base, we work both halves, and they ask for almost opposite things.

In B30 the jobs are conservatory roofs, block-paved drives and the bay windows of 1930s semis, usually for owner-occupiers who want the front of the house looking right. In B38 it is more often gutters, weathered uPVC and move-out cleans on rented houses, each on a fixed price agreed before we start. Running through the middle of both is the canal corridor and the mature tree cover of Kings Norton Park.

We are based in Selly Oak, about 15 minutes from Kings Norton.

The Green’s historic fabric, B30 semis and B38 estates

Kings Norton holds four distinct kinds of building and they need four different approaches. The Victorian terraces and villas around The Green, along with the historic fabric at Saint Nicolas Place, are soft-brick and timber-framed: we soft-wash them and we work from the ground, never with high pressure, because water driven into a timber frame or a lime-mortared joint causes damage that a clean cannot undo. The interwar and 1930s semis running through B30 are conventional by comparison, pebbledash and render with original bays, and most of them have picked up a rear conservatory and a block-paved driveway along the way, which is where the exterior work on a B30 semi sits. The 1950s to 1970s estates across B38 are repetitive by design, which is useful: measure up one house and the gutter run, the render and the roofline are known for the whole street. The later infill is modern uPVC and shallow gardens. Across all of it, the canal corridor and the park trees mean north-facing elevations green up and gutters fill.

Heritage frontages, park leaf and overdue estate gutters

  • Listed and conservation-area frontages that high pressure would damage
  • Leaf fall from the park and canal corridor filling gutters
  • Green algae on north-facing elevations across both halves of the area
  • Rear conservatories and block-paved drives on the B30 semis
  • Repetitive post-war gutter runs on the B38 estates, often long overdue

Cleaning services we offer in Kings Norton

Each of these has its own page for Kings Norton, with the local detail for that job.

Gutter Cleaning in Kings Norton

The park trees and the canal corridor drop a heavy load of leaf into Kings Norton gutters each autumn, and around The Green we clear them from the ground so nothing rests against historic guttering.

Window Cleaning in Kings Norton

Small historic panes and glazing bars near The Green, standard bays through the B30 semis, and long uniform runs across the B38 estates, all cleaned with a pure-water pole system.

Patio & Driveway Cleaning in Kings Norton

Soft-wash only on the older paths and steps in the conservation area, conventional cleaning on the block paving and concrete of the B30 and B38 houses.

Domestic Cleaning in Kings Norton

Weekly or fortnightly cleaning in the B30 semis and the B38 estate houses, on the same weekday each time.

Commercial Cleaning in Kings Norton

Two kinds of premises in one area. Unit offices and trade premises off Pershore Road South, with roller shutters and off-street parking, then the small shops, halls and consulting rooms around The Green.

End of Tenancy Cleaning in Kings Norton

Move-out cleaning here centres on the rented houses of the B38 estates, cleaned to inventory standard and priced by the size of the property.

Deep Cleaning in Kings Norton

Period rooms in the terraces around The Green and plainer post-war kitchens and bathrooms on the B38 estates, each reset to suit the house.

Carpet Cleaning in Kings Norton

Stair and lounge carpets in the B30 semis and rented B38 houses, cleaned by hot-water extraction, often at a change of tenant.

Conservatory Cleaning in Kings Norton

Rear conservatories on the 1930s semis in B30, many under park or canal-side trees, soft-washed with the gutter cleared.

Oven cleaning and other jobs people ask about in Kings Norton

Ovens are cleaned as part of a deep clean or an end of tenancy clean, not as a separate call-out. We do not offer roof cleaning, graffiti removal or upholstery cleaning, so for those you will need a specialist.

Knowing which parts of a Kings Norton house to leave alone

A quote for a pressure wash near The Green should worry anyone who owns a historic frontage. We set out which parts of it we will clean, how, and which parts are best left alone, and we work off a pole from the ground so no ladder leans on original guttering. Further out in B38 what matters is different and simpler: a fixed price, a date that holds, and no upselling. Both halves sit on the same fifteen-minute run from Selly Oak, so a small job such as a single gutter clear or one conservatory roof is easy to fit in alongside other work. On the estates, where the houses repeat, we can also quote a whole street in one go.

That takes in St Nicolas’ Church and The Green, Saint Nicolas Place and Kings Norton Park, and the streets between them.

Fifteen minutes from Selly Oak, down through Bournville

Kings Norton sits in B30 and B38, Birmingham. From our Selly Oak base it is about 15 minutes.

Kings Norton questions

Frequently asked questions

No. That part of Kings Norton is a conservation area with listed and historic frontages, and high pressure drives water behind timber framing and strips soft brick and old mortar. We soft-wash and we work from the ground. If a surface should not be cleaned at all, we leave it and explain why.

Yes, both. On B38 the usual jobs are gutters, uPVC, drives and end-of-tenancy cleaning. We quote the same way in either postcode, on a fixed price agreed before we start.

Tree cover. The park planting and the canal corridor drop a lot of leaf, and north-facing runs stay damp long enough for moss and algae to hold it. Once a year is the minimum here and twice is sensible if you back onto the park or the canal.

Yes. Plenty of the 1930s semis here carry a rear conservatory. We soft-wash the glass or polycarbonate, clean the frames and seals, and clear the conservatory guttering at the same visit.

Yes, mainly across the B38 estates. We can invoice a landlord or agent directly, work to your own inventory checklist, and turn a property around on a fixed handover date.

About fifteen minutes from our Selly Oak base, straight down through Bournville. A slot within the same week is usually possible.
